Other factors must be taken into consideration when installing an EMR. In addition to the hardware you will be purchasing, it is critical your clinic has the proper infrastructure.

Network Requirements

• 1 Public, Static IP address: Necessary for remote technical support, connecting satellite offices, off-site data storage, and backup.
• Internet connection with business class DSL or better: (minimum bandwidth of 512 Kbps upload speed) Required to transmit large amounts of data between your location and Stryker Data centers for storage, backup, and archive restoration.
• Minimum of 802.11b wireless network using 128-bit WEP key or WPA encryption: Required for Tablet PCs to access the OrthoPad server throughout the clinic.

Environmental requirements

• Cooling: Servers and workstations need to be kept under 70° F: Stryker chooses the most robust equipment available, but the performance of high-end computing equipment will degrade if subject to extreme heat.
